Having a Canal or any water body near any village is a blessing and Bissamcuttack also have a ever green Canal in its area which evolves from Chatikona hilly area and drains for around 20km from chatikona village area to Kutragada Village and the water flow merges with Bansadhara River. This Canal flows in every season but the flow and water level changes time to time. The Bissamcuttack canal has built by the ITDA division of the Gunupur municipality long back in 90’s. Bissamcuttack Canal does not consist of any king’s story but the canal has built in a welfare scheme of village development for irrigation and rituals.
SOCIO-RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE:
This canal has an significant role in the society and it has a great religious background. This cananl is situated near a Hindu Graveyard (Samshan). After the funeral of any hindu person the relatives uses this cananl water as the source of purity and do all type of rituals. After any local festival like Ganesh puja, kali puja, etc the localized also do the immersion activity of GOD Ganesh, Goddess Kali, Durga maa, and others in this Canal.
ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE:
This Canal has a wide spread of 10km area of Bissamcuttack block and has a very good source of irrigation source that helps the local farmer to do their farming through tbis water. The local farmer uses this water for farming and other usage of agriculture nearer village like dakuluguda, kutragada, etc. Near Kutragad area this water also uses for drinking water purpose in the scheme of Vasudha project by the government.
What is the current condition? Any efforts to clean up or rejuvenate the waterbody?
The Current condition is very worst at our area because of huge immersion and unawareness of water body. As the local people uses this water body to immerse their puja waste in it and during any funeral ceremony the local person also through their waste into the water body. Also few use this water source for toilet purpose. NO effort has been taken by any government or private body about this. As the water flows in every season so the waste particles washes out by itself, except few heavier waste.

- Sustainability Prospect: We find this water body has a great potential and if we try then we can sustain this water body in a great extent.
- Entrepreneurship Prospect: Few farmers are using for crop production through this water body.
- Vocal for Local Prospect: Local festival like Ganesh Puja, kali puja, etc. are celebrated and immersion of god, goddess done here.

PROBLEM STATEMENT IDENTIFIED:
We found the conservation of this canal very important and to make the canal sustain for a longer run we need to clear its ritual waste and other wastages that goes into it. Because of the waste the water flows slowdowns and the depth of the canal also gets damage.
