The weekly creativity contest held by #Youth4water campaign in Odisha attracted the attention of many youths. We received amazing drawings from youths on topics such as, ‘Save Water’, ‘Importance of Handwashing’, ‘Reduce Reuse Recycle’, ‘Save Trees’, ‘Plastic pollution in water’, ‘Protect our Wetlands’, ‘Rivers of Odisha’, and ‘Water Pollution’. These represent the passion of our youth for the causes of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Climate Change.
Here are some wonderful drawings and paintings sent in by youth! We also provide certificates of achievement to the winners of our weekly contest.
Shreya Mishra, winner of ‘Reduce, Reuse & Recycle’ theme says, “ I have deep concern for our ecology. In our daily activities, we use and throw so many plastic items into the environment and pollute it. Instead, we can reduce, reuse and recycle our daily generated waste items so that it does not burden our environment with unwanted waste. Also, I believe that we must use public transport, plant more trees and keep our environment clean and green.

Deepshikha De, winner of ‘Save Water’ theme says, “We don’t realize the importance of water until it stops flowing from our taps. We must learn to conserve water in our day-to-day activities. For example, we need to turn off the tap while brushing our teeth, we need to learn to bath with minimum water without overutilizing it. In our behaviour, we need to incorporate small changes that will ultimately lead to a bigger change one day.

Aisha Panda, winner of ‘Protect our Wetland’ theme says, “Wetlands are an integral part of our environment which is often ignored by the general public. I love to visit wetlands near my home and observe different kinds of birds present in the wetland. They are so beautiful and lively. We must understand the importance of wetlands and respect it.

Kousik Dey, winner of ‘Importance of Handwashing’ says, “The difficult times of Covid-19 has taught us how important handwashing is in our lives. I wash my hands every time after I come home after playing cricket, before eating and after using toilet. I think it is best to wash hands with soap and water because soap helps to kill many bacteria and virus which can cause diseases.
