The Manoharpur Rehabilitation and Resettlement Colony (R&R) is located at Sukhabandh in Hemgir Tahsil of Sundargarh district of Odisha. The colony has been constructed for the R&R of Project Displaced Families (PDFs) from the village of Manoharpur. The colony is a model R&R colony in Odisha as well as one of the best in the country with all the modern basic facilities and a rural atmosphere.

The village has been declared an ODF++ village as it ensures sustainable management of grey water and black water generated in the village along with management of solid waste and plastic waste from source separation to disposal.

It is the active youth of this village who have shaped the ODF status of this village. Previously, the village lacked toilets and the residents would defecate in the open. Women felt insecure about this practice. Following the construction of toilets, usage was doubtful. A group of young people from the village came together to raise awareness about the need to use toilets in the community. The youth and SHG women made the community members realize the importance of toilet use and how it relates to their health and nutrition.

During the 100 Days Campaign, the youth also engaged in a cleanliness drive to raise awareness among community members. In this village, youth have been at the forefront of all activities.

During our visit to the village, youth were informed of the #Youth4Water Campaign. Young people were encouraged to follow us on social media. The youths of Manoharpur village encouraged others to join the #Youth4Water campaign.
